Christmas junk journal - a couple of pages

I've not really had much time to work in my Christmas junk journal since Christmas day, so I only have these two pages that I did today to show you.

The page on the left has a couple of pieces that I've cut from Christmas Day's parcels, along with some snowflake stickers. I've added a list of my Christmas presents onto the back of the journaling card.

The right-hand page has a mixture of images of Christmas trees from vintage Christmas cards, scrapbook paper, washi tape and a die-cut that I've added some jewels too. There's fir tree branches around the stag on the bottom left too.

I may pop into this journal through out next year if the muse takes me, along with my other journals. I'll probably end up making at least one new junk journal next year too!

I'll be back on the Monday, for the first post of 2017, so I'll look forward to sharing my makes, journaling, art etc with you.

I wish you all a happy new year!

Apologies for being a day late, but I'd like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a fabulous 2017.
And love and hugs if Christmas is hard for you or you're not looking forward to 2017.

I'll be back next Friday.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

The big tree in the front room, along with the mantlepiece, were decorated at the weekend.  They're both mainly decorated in red and gold decorations, with the odd silver one thrown in. Most of the decorations we've had for years,  but we usually buy or are given a couple every year, so the collection does grow a little each year.

I'll be back for my last post before Christmas on Friday.

The Nutcracker Christmas card

This card was a commission and started with the little toy soldier that's in the window above. I found the two illustrations on Pinterest and I added liquid pearl, gel pens, stickers and felt tip pens to them.

I created a three-fold card out of a sheet of A4 and added the illustrations on the front and the other to the inside of the last page , along with some silver stickers. I added some scrapbook papers onto the reverse side of the illustrations. I cut a circle out of the middle section that I stitched around and added a few beads to the tailend of the thread. I attached the soldier so he swung over the hole and I also aligned the hole so you could see the Christmas tree through it.

I'll be back on Wednesday.

Christmas junk journal - part two

I've added the pages, three groups or signatures of a mixture of old christmas cards, christmas paper and junk mail to the cover. I stitched the signatures together on the sewing machine and then glued them into the cover. Just in case the glue doesn't hold them, I also tied the signatures to the spine with twine.

I have started adding things to the pages; tuck spots (a piece of paper attached so that you can tuck something into them), an envelope and a small paper bag. I've added a tag, notepaper and a  repurposed playing card to decorate/journal on in the future.

I intend to use this journal year after year until it's full, though it may not be used consecutively if I decide to make another one.

Next time I show you this journal, I will have created a collage or piece of art or just decorated a page.

I'll be back on Monday, less than a week away from Christmas!

A lace and flower heart

One of my penpals has a December birthday, so I decided to make her this lavender heart for her.  I used some floral cotton fabric that I decorated with vintage lace, ric rac that I added french knots to, a crocheted heart, some buttons, including a couple of vintage ones and a heart-shaped one.  I filled it with stuffing and a handful of lavender. I used a piece of velvet ribbon that I salvaged from last year's Christmas crackers so that is can be hung up.

I hope everyone's christmas preparations are going well, I'll be back on Saturday.

A calendar for 2017

I've made this calendar for a Christmas present, but the recipient doesn't follow me online so I can share this with you tonight. I've used an A5 piece of card for each of the 'pages' and decorated them with a mixture of scrapbook papers, images from Pinterest, ephemera from my stash, crystals and stickers. I used a printed calendar for the date bit that I'd bought from a craft shop rather than printed a 2017 calendar from the internet.

I punched a hole about 2cm in from each side at the top of each page and bound them together with two binder rings (rings that can pull apart and close again). To enable the calendar to be hung up, I punched another hole in the middle of the top of each page and ran a length of ribbon through all of the pages and created a loop by tying the ends together. This enables the pages to be flipped over and still be able to be hung up.

I hope you've had a good start to your week and I'll be back on Thursday.
