A couple of new pieces and a reused old one

I started to feel much more like my usual self this week and, consequently, my creative juices have been flowing. I now have a list of ideas, but I'm trying to restrain myself by only starting a couple at a time (it is hard though, especially when new fabric arrives that would be perfect for a project that's still on the list!).

This first piece is going to be all white. I started with a piece of vintage white cotton from an old bedsheet (old bedsheets are ideal for stitching on, they're beautifully soft from being washed and provide a huge amount of fabric in each one!). I then added the small lace and cotton mat in the middle, along with some broderie anglais and the lace corner of a handkerchief. I have also added suffolk puffs and pearls.

This second piece's colour scheme is cream and pink. I started with the end of  a table mat and have chosen various bits and pieces (see the last photo) to be added to it. So far, I've added a large patch of fabric and some lace. I've also started to stitch on one of Jessie Chorley's templates with some vintage rayon thread.

There's more work to do on both of these pieces and, hopefully, I'll manage to restrain myself from starting something new before they are finished!

These last photos are of a silk lavender pillow that I've made from a decorated piece of handmade lace fabric. It was finished quite some while ago and was sitting in a box along with other finished, but unused pieces. I came across it the other day as I was looking for something else and when I saw it I knew it would make a lovely pillow, once mounted onto some silk, for one of my Youtube friends. As all of the hard work, i.e. the embroidery, had been done, it didn't take long for me to stitch the piece onto the silk, by hand, and machine sew two pieces of silk together, before filling it with stuffing and dried lavender. I hope she likes it.

It's been quite a long post today, so thank you for getting to the end. I'll be back on Sunday with this weeks #52weeksofstitchingthecircle piece.
