Creative Connection January 2013 craft challenge

The theme for the first challenge of the new year is 'new'. I decided that new was going to be something new for me. I've been meaning to learn to crochet for ages so this challenge was ideal to push me into start learning.

I'd bought issue 24 of Simply Homemade and there was a pattern for a crocheted flower, along with details on how to begin crochet.

The first thing to do is create a chain.
 Then I tried double crochet.
Next there's treble crochet, which is one of the stitches in the flower pattern.

The start.

The completed flower.

I'm rather proud of my flower. I hope to do more, now I know the basics I'll be doing some more crochet. My goal is to make some granny squares.

If you'd like to enter this month's challenge pop over to the Creative Connections website and see the items made by my fellow Design Teamers.
