Blue and pnk pin pillow

I made this pin pillow as a birthday present and it's one of my favourites,  though I think the colours and that lovely floral fabric have something to do with that.  

The flowery fabric is vintage and the piece I have is gradually getting smaller and smaller.  It'll be one of those fabrics that I just can't use the last bit of! 

The gingham is another favourite,  but fortunately the fabric she's always have plenty of that. 

There's a little embroidered ric rac,  another staple, with little french knots. The pink braid was found on eBay, as was the white lace.

The button, given to me by a lovely lady who shared her button tin with me, was tied on once the pillow had been stuffed.

It's rather nice, even though I say that myself!

A mainly white collage

I'm loving my work on simply stitch 4, but when I received the rose and spotty fabric in a swap, I wanted to do something with it straight away. Hence this collage. There's also lace, broderie anglais, a piece of crochet from a doily, a bit of piping and a square of embroidery from a damaged table cloth.

Each element has been attached to the cloth, the circle of broderie anglais has also been stuffed slightly, ready for some embroidery. You can't really see it in these photos, but I've penciled in a Shakespeare quote, which will also be embroidered on.

Laundry bags

As well as taking my lingerie bags on holiday, we also always take a laundry bag, or as it's know in our household, a 'dirty knicker bag!'

They are great to use on holiday for putting your dirty smalls in, plus all of your washing is in one place when you get home.

They're also useful in the home as well. Hang one in each bedroom and ask the occupants to place their dirty laundry inside them. Then whoever does the washing (in our house this is not me, I don't know how the washing machine works and I do realise how lucky I am not to have to learn to) just has to collect the bags.

I keep a lavender sachet in my laundry bags so that they keep smelling fresh, plus they're easy to wash.
