A bit of Barry

This birthday card and pillow was made for someone who really loves Barry Manilow! I found the two images on the card from Pinterest and used a double-sided 230gsm paper to make the card. All of the other bits and pieces were in my stash.

I printed the photograph onto a piece of cotton fabric and stitched that to a lace hanky with variagated thread. I attached the hanky to the purple and white fabric and then to the purple spotted fabric before stuffing.

Both were greatfully recieved.

I'll be back on Sunday with this week's #our52weekproject post.

Mother's Day cards etc

The two cards were for my Mother, one from my husband and I and the other from my sister and her's. Both started with images of vintage mother's day cards that I embellished with watercolour paints and pen and then added a few bits and pieces.

I also made covers for the three hangers, one knitted and the other two stitched. For the hanging I printed the painting Peonies by Perugini (I saw it at the exhibition that I wrote about my post entitled Victorian Treasures from a couple of weeks ago) onto fabric and stitched it onto a piece of floral fabric. I also added a few beads for her pearl headband and some antique lace on the bottom

I'll be back on Friday.

#our52weekproject - week 12

It's ages since I did any embroidery on paper and I've seen a few people doing so on Instagram lately, making me want to have a play myself. So I've decided that I'm going to devote my circles for the next few weeks to doing just that.

I've started quite simply with these triangle shapes and using ordinary sewing thread. All you need to do is have two lines of the same number of holes and start at one end of a line and go up through the paper and go down the furthest hole on the other line and go back up  through the next holes and continue to go alternatively until all of the holes are used.

I'll be back on Wednesday.

Lavender sachets and keyrings

A couple of little things have been finished recently, like these lavender sachets and keys, along with other things that I can't share until the recipients have seen them. I also have a little stack of items that I need to add to my Etsy and Folksy stores, so look out for those later next week.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend (don't forget the clocks go forward tonight if you're in the UK) and I'll be back on Monday with this week's #our52weekproject post.

A birthday card with a flower

This is an 80th birthday card that I was asked to make for a customer. I've tried out a new style, with 'doors' that are kept closed with ribbon tied. Inside there's a pocket with a tag for the sentiment etc.

I've used a dried flower to decorate the front, brads to hold the ribbon, acrylic pearls and a cameo to decorate the front. Inside I've mainly used stickers and the tag.

I'll be back on Saturday.

Photos from my phone.

Just a quick one today as I'm in the middle of Mother's Day making, so here's a few photos from my phone.

- the Three Graces on Liverpool's waterfront bathed in today's sunshine.
- two photos of goodies from The Works
- a painting called Peonies by Perugini
- Chinese headdresses followed by broken China found in a dock in Liverpool displayed at the Museum of Liverpool
- our two cats
- a painted background I created.

I'll be back on Thursday.
