The first two birthday cards for 2021

 I was asked to  make two birthday cards for this month. 

This first one was for a man. I used a V&A wrapping paper with irises for the background. For the detail I fussy cut out some blue tits on plants from an illustration in the Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady. I also added some die-cut butterflies. I also decorated the envelope to match.

This card was for a woman and I made this one using printable papers from Antique Paperie on Etsy. I used a one printable as the background piece and I stitched a piece of tracing paper on top of this. I then fussy cut the flowers and butterflies from another printable. I also decorated the envelope to match.

I'm back and Happy Valentine's Day

I'm moving back into the blogishere. Since I last posted my Mother was diagnosed with myeloma , received chemotherapy in the first part of 2018, but unfortunately she died in the 11th November 2018. I'm now getting used to the new normal and I thought I'd start up blogging again.

I joined in a Valentine's card swap this year and I made the five cards in the photos above. 

I hope everyone has a fabulous Valentine's Day, regardless of how you spend it.

Mother's Day cards etc

The two cards were for my Mother, one from my husband and I and the other from my sister and her's. Both started with images of vintage mother's day cards that I embellished with watercolour paints and pen and then added a few bits and pieces.

I also made covers for the three hangers, one knitted and the other two stitched. For the hanging I printed the painting Peonies by Perugini (I saw it at the exhibition that I wrote about my post entitled Victorian Treasures from a couple of weeks ago) onto fabric and stitched it onto a piece of floral fabric. I also added a few beads for her pearl headband and some antique lace on the bottom

A pair of cards

The top card is a birthday card for a penpal. As well as the images from pinterest, I've used some fabric flowers cut from a Rose and Hubble floral fabric both on the front of the card and on the inside.

The other is a new home card, the first one I've made in ages. It's just fairly simply with a couple of things from scrapbook table and a couple of stickers.

A little bit of paper play

This sympathy card was for an order. The image is from a vintage greetings card, probably 1930/40s that I decorated with some straight stitch. I also used purple card and flower patterned paper,

As I had my paper crafting stuff out I decided to do a couple of tags to pop into penpal letters this month. I used a mixture of scrapbook paper scraps, some pieces of ephemeral from my stash and soft purple glitter tape.

A couple of cards

I have so many things nearly finished, but these two are the only actually finished items, hence you're seeing a birthday card and a christmas card. 

These cards are A6 in size and are decorated with french knots, and the pink reindeer has a few beads too.

Both the pink reindeer christmas card (now sold) and the dapper gent birthday card are now available in my Etsy store.
