1920's ladies pin pillow.
I've had the fabric printed with 1920s-style ladies for a while waiting for the right project to come along. This pin pillow was made for someone who liked the colours grey and yellow, although the ladies fabric has a bit of blue in it, it goes perfectly with the grey fabric printed with the word sew. The image og the lady with a fan was found on Pinterest and was attached to the band of grey fabric, itself edged in chain stitch, with pekinese stitch.
On the left side of the pillow , lace has been added and decorated with buttonhole stitch and french knots. The grey fabric has been used for the back as well. Once stuffed, the yellow silk fabric-covered button was tied onto the pillow.

Style on the Small Screen - part one
There's currently an exhibition on at the Lady Lever Art Gallery called -
which showcases ten exquisite dresses created for the 'Downton Abbey' television series by the makers Cosprop, who are a leading costumier to film, television and theatre. Glamorous gowns worn by characters including the Dowager Countess of Grantham, Lady Mary and Lady Grantham are among those on display.
Blurring the lines between fiction and reality, the exhibition compares costumes from the screen with historic garments of the 1912-1923 period.
A number of pieces from National Museums Liverpool’s collection also feature, including two never-before displayed costumes and one outfit that previously belonged to the Liverpool lady, Mrs Tinne.
I've seen the exhibition and took lots of pictures so I can share them with you as many of you won't have chance to visit the exhibition itself (it finished on the 18th January 2015).
As there are ten frocks, I'm going to spread them over a few posts, starting with these!
More next time.
