This first one belonged to Mrs Tinne who had a vast collection of clothes, and of all of the frocks in this exhibition, this one looks the most wearable by an averagely sized woman. Even the dress worn by Dame Maggie Smith (the last frock in the first part of this series of blog posts), which is larger than the frocks worn by the younger members of the Downton cast, would be a bit of a squeeze!
The bead and sequin work on the gold frock is beautiful isn't it? There are frocks with a similar style on sale today, too.
