Tradtional-style fabric Christmas decorations

 

I can't belive that it's only 2.5 weeks until Christmas day! Where has the year gone, and more importantly, I need to ensure all of the things I've made for Christmas have been added to my etsy store!  I've made two sets of these Victorian-style Christmas decorations, there a six in each set and all of the designs are different. I especially like the ones with the wrens on, but the robins, with their bright red chests, do shout Christmas though.

You can find these in my Etsy store here. Until Christmas Day, all orders from my Etsy and Folksy stores will also receive either a lavender heart of a length (about 1.5m) of paper mini bunting with their parcel. Just indicate your preference in the notes section when your place an order.

Current wips*

These are a few of the things I'm working on at the moment.

From the top:

-  a commission Christmas decoration 
-  a needlecase I've been meaning to make for weeks. I need one for Christmas sewing tin so I don't have to keep needles in a bit of fabric!
-  a Christmas tree that just needs its cinnamon stick trunk
-  a felt Christmas decoration 
-  Christmas images printed onto fabric for decorations and some printed images on linen 
-  the February page of a calendar I'm making.

So, I've got plenty to keep me busy this weekend and I'll be back with another post on Monday.

The blue and lace pin pillow

This newly completed pin pillow is made from a patchwork of four different blue and cream fabrics. Each of the three seams are edged in lace and two also have buttonhole lace too. For a little extra decoration I've tied on a section from an old bracelet that matches the colours of the fabrics. I've backed it in plain, beige linen.

This one has gone into my Folksy store, where there's also a couple more pin pillows available.

A couple of flowery birthday cards

The first card has an image of a 1930s/40s birthday card that has been mounted onto scrapbook paper. To go with the flowery theme, I added a bouquet of paper, card and sticker flowers.

The second one has an illustration of a hydrangea that I've added french knots too at the centre of each flower. The front of the card has a a piece of wallpaper and I mounted the the hydrangea image onto it, along with some washi tape, paper flowers and a printed sentiment.

"Sewing mends the soul" - a new pin pillow

This patchwork pin pillow has the quote "Sewing mends the soul" embroidered onto it and I can say that it's true for me. I don't know where I'd be without my sewing.

Anyway, the top is made up of a patchwork of fabrics, with the quote being on a section cut from a vintage hanky. Each of the seams is either decorated with stitch, lace, ric rac or braid. I've backed it with pink gingham and it's stuffed with synthetic stuffing.

It is now listed in my Etsy store, where you'll also find a couple more pin pillows, lavender sachets and textile brooches, along with a couple of other items. Please pop over and have a look, my only income comes from my stitching.

Blue and white pincushion

The start of this pin pillow was the butterfly fabric that has been designed by Geninne, a fantastic artist who lives in New Mexico, USA. I then chose the other two fabrics to compliment it. I have high-lighted five of the butterflies with beads and embroidery.

The edges where the fabrics are joined are decorated with lace, buttonhole lace, blue cross grain ribbon and stab stitch.

I have also tied on three 1940s buttons, along with some flower lace in the section on the left.

This pin pillow is now available in my Etsy store .

Brooches

Apologies for not being around for a while. I've been making things for the Seagrass Gallery when it reopens in its new place in West Kirby on the 6th February and for an update to my online shops. Plus my chronic fatigue hasn't been helpful either!

Above are photos of five of the brooches I've made recently. I haven't decided which emporium these are to go to yet.
